Community Living Kingston and District (CLKD) celebrates inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in multi-faceted ways. The following are some of the highlights that demonstrate our commitment:

  • In March of 2021, CLKD signed the City’s Inclusion Charter, committing our organisation to maintain inclusive workplaces for marginalised populations including people from racialized minorities, LGBTQ communities and people with disabilities.

  • We have intentionally welcomed candidates from these communities through supportive hiring practices which have raised the number of employees from diverse populations from 5 to 21 in one year.
  • An Equity Diversity and Inclusion survey was completed at the management level to assess organisational needs.
  • Four sessions of Fostering a Workplace Culture of Inclusion & Belonging were held during the year. The training session were taken by staff at 3 levels: Management, supervisory and administrative.

  • We have a robust employee wellness and mental health programs. The Workplace Mental Health Certification for Leaders was taken by 30 employees in October, 25,26 2021 which included frontline and leadership level staff.
  • We nurture community connections through Facebook and LinkedIn.

  • During the pandemic we enhanced communication by using virtual platforms like Blue Jeans, Zoom and Teams.
  • In the week of 15- 17 May we will be celebrating diversity in all its facets which is reflected in religious celebrations, food, languages.

  • CLKD is hosting an information session on May 17 at 11am with KEYS to share information about us as an employer of choice.

  • We encourage you to use the badge of Kingston workplace inclusion charter signature.
